Sooner or Later, All Trashcans Get Smelly
It is inevitable that your kitchen trashcan will begin to acquire odors – it just happens. And a day finally comes along when you open it up and – Ugh! That thing stinks! If the odor from your kitchen trashcan has gotten so that it smells bad even after taking out the trash and installing a new liner, then it’s time to freshen your trash can. Nok-Out or SNiPER are up to the job and can help you get rid of kitchen trashcan odor.
What You Will Need
Either Nok-Out or SNiPER
cleaning rags
scrub brush/ scrub pad
bowl of warm water with a couple of drops of Dawn (or other degreaser)
you may want to wear rubber gloves when cleaning the interior
Which One to Use – Nok-Out or SNiPER?
Nok-Out will safely remove the odor from your kitchen trashcan and leave it with no odor at all. Which is the way it should be – no odor! SNiPER will also remove the odor and will work to get rid of the microbes that are often the cause of odor in the first place. SNiPER or Nok-Out are perfect for use in your kitchen and inside your home because they are not harsh chemical cleaners that leave toxic residues behind. You can use either one knowing that your home will be pristine clean!
Let’s Get Rid of That Odor The Easy Way
First off, it is a good idea to take the trashcan to a worktable and turn it on it’s side. This makes it easier to work on. Remove the liner and anything else that can be removed and take a look. Find the places where there is crud stuck to the walls or top – those are the places to start working. Wet one of your rags in the soapy water and wipe down the entire interior being sure to thoroughly wet any stuck-on gunk to soften it up. If it doesn’t wipe clean easily, use the scrub brush (or scrub pad) and scrub away all the stuck-on matter. Treat the exterior the same as the interior, taking care not to scratch any surface.
Don’t forget the lid! Both the inside and outside probably need some love too.
When the trash can is clean – inside and out – wipe the entire thing down with a dry rag. Apply SNiPER or Nok-Out by spraying a light coat until all the surfaces are thoroughly wet. You may want to use a small piece of paper towel to smear it around making sure that all surfaces are uniformly wet. Again, don’t forget the bottom of the lid. Allow it all to dry.
Plastic absorbs odors more than stainless steel so if your trashcan is plastic, you should give it the “nose test” to see if it needs a second application
Is Your Trashcan Hidden Behind a Cabinet Door?
It certainly gives your kitchen a clean look when the trashcan is hidden behind a cabinet door (as in the photo above). But if it is closed off this way, you will likely need to spray the walls ceiling and floor with Nok-Out or SNiPER because odors will cling to them as well as to you trashcan. Just give them a spray, wipe if needed, then spray again and allow it to dry with the door open.
