Use a Room Humidifier to Apply SNiPER or Nok-Out
A Great Little Tool to Apply Nok-Out or SNiPER
Nok-Out and SNiPER both do their deodorizing work when they come into direct contact with the odor source. Most of the time it is easy – spray right on the stinky stuff and walk away, allowing it to air dry naturally.
Easy! But sometimes it is not so easy to spray everything. Tobacco smoke odor is a good example. Smoke floats around on air currents in the room, and little smoke particles stick to any surface they come in contact with. That is literally every surface in the room. Walls, shelves, books, fan blades, ceiling and so on.
Everything! It can be hard to spray all those surfaces with a trigger squeeze sprayer.
A professional would use a power sprayer such as the Fogmaster Jr which has an adjustable spray. You can use a “fogger” like a paint sprayer – point it and spray a light coat evenly across walls, shelves, books, fan blades ceiling, and so on. But foggers are expensive, and not everyone wants to shell out well over a hundred bucks for one of these machines. A “cool mist” type room humidifier can be a cheaper alternative. It is not as good as a fogger, because it is very slow and because this method works best in small spaces – such as the inside of a car, or a closet. But it is easy and can be a great tool for applying Nok-Out or SNiPER in your home or office.
How Does This Work?
The idea is that you put some NOk-Out or SNiPER into the reservoir of the humidifier and put the machine near the center of the space. Turn it on and then you can leave the room, closing the door behind you. The machine produces vapor, which behaves a lot like smoke. It floats around on the air currents in the room – just like smoke – until it touches some surface, where it sticks, just like smoke. The same way that smoke moves around and gets on everything, Nok-Out or SNiPER also goes around the room, and gets on everything. When you use one of these machines, it spews vapor into the atmosphere of the room. At some point, the air becomes saturated with moisture. Then the excess moisture begins to condense onto every square inch of surface in the room. This is how a room humidifier works as an application tool for you – slow, but easy.
When Should I Use a Room Humidifier?
A good reason to use a room humidifier to apply Nok-Out or SNiPER might be when you are not sure exactly where the odor source is. For example, maybe you have a closet that has developed a musty odor and you can’t locate the odor source. You need to treat it, but don’t know where to spray. Put some Nok-Out or SNiPER into the reservoir, put it in the middle of the closet, turn it on, and leave, closing the door behind you. The idea is to create a thick “fog” of Nok-Out or SNiPER and let this fog condense onto all surfaces. The fog will even penetrate clothing on hangers, and to a lesser extent, even into the carpet. That is a whole lot easier (and much more efficient) than trying to spray every surface by hand. A gentle fogging overnight for a closet, or basement, or the inside of your car or truck, applied every two weeks or so, will provide a “maintenance dose” that will keep the air in your space smelling sweet.
Should I Dilute?
Most likely, yes. For ordinary odor control or for a periodic maintenance dose, dilute by up to 3 parts tap water to 1 part Nok-Out or SNiPER. For tougher problem, such as tobacco smoke that has accumulated over the years, you may need to go full strength.
You may also want to dilute if the space is larger. You will need more fluid to work with.
Can I Use This Method to Treat The Air?
Yes indeed! Dilute by 3 parts water for use as an air freshener.
One of the nice things about applying Nok-Out or SNiPER with a humidifier is that it is easy. It doesn’t get any easier! But it is also slow. It’s easy because you can do this overnight while you sleep. Start the room humidifier in the evening before you go to bed, wake up and it is done! It is slow – it takes all night to get the job done. If your space is too large, it may not work as well as you want it to, just because it is so slow and the space is so big. But for smaller spaces, it works well enough to be useful to you.
