The Effect of Chlorine Dioxide on Your Pet
SNiPER, Nok-Out and Your Pets
The dilemma of animal keepers and pet owners is that if they disinfect cages, litter pans, dog runs, and/or other animal spaces, they put their animals in jeopardy of chemical poisoning, but if they don’t thoroughly disinfect, they put their animals at risk for disease. Veterinarians tell us that most deaths are premature and unnecessary.
The best answer to date has been to remove pets from their enclosures, scrub the habitat clean, and treat the enclosure with one of a number of nasty (and often expensive) chemicals. It is then necessary to come back later to wash everything down, and hope that there is no dangerous contamination lingering from either the pathogens of the disinfectant. The problem is that most disinfectants are toxic and corrosive, therefore, many disinfectants are not safe to use around pets, period.
Stabilized Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2)
Our approach involves the use of stabilized ClO2. This remarkable substance is the primary disinfecting and odor eliminating ingredient in our products. SNiPER has been thoroughly tested by the EPA and it has been lab tested to kill everything from canine parvo virus to ringworm to the current corona virus. In our formulation, ClO2 is non-abrasive and non-corrosive, which makes it safe for use on almost any surface and around animals. The EPA evaluates all disinfectants for toxicity (to humans) in 4 areas – to skin, to eyes, to lungs and if ingested. SNiPER receives the lowest toxicity rating that the EPA gives out – in all four categories.
The chemistry of Chlorine Dioxide is radically different from that of chlorine itself. Technically speaking, both are oxidizing agents. Chlorine tends to react with organic matter by attacking cell walls and creating by-products, some of which are toxic and carcinogenic. ClO2 disassembles organic compounds through a mechanical action, rendering them harmless and odorless. It’s this difference that explains the superior performance of chlorine dioxide versus bleach (sodium hypochlorite).
A Superior Product
The anti-microbial efficacy of chlorine dioxide against bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa has been repeatedly demonstrated and documented. Local pet rescue communities tell us that they like the fact that you can spray Nok-Out directly on the pet to soothe issues related to ringworm and mange. Largely, this is due to the fact that our products are non-abrasive and non-corrosive.
What is the Difference Between Nok-Out and SNiPER?
Both Nok-Out and SNiPER use the exact same primary active ingredient – stabilized chlorine dioxide. SNiPER has been thoroughly tested by the EPA as a disinfecting product and can be looked up on the EPA website as product #71700-2.
NOK-OUT, a true deodorizer, is the pet owner’s best friend to eliminate odor, protect the environment, and cause no harm to the owner, or his pets. SNiPER is the Disinfectant product that will also eliminate odors without harming the pet.
