How to Remove Vomit Odor

Ughhhhh! That’s disgusting! But it happens – and someone has to do the dirty work. And even worse, if you don’t get it right, you may get a really offensive odor powerful enough to knock your socks off! If you are lucky and it falls on hard surfaces like flooring, it’s not too bad;  you wipe it away, get out the mop and it’s a bit disgusting, but easy enough to clean thoroughly. But if it happens to porous surfaces such as carpet, or your car seat or the sofa, then it can be more difficult. All purpose cleaner Nok-Out is up to the task and you can remove vomit odor easily. Nok-Out to the Rescue!

First Off…

Use old towels to clean away as much of the matter as possible.  Use a wet rag to try and blot up or wipe away as much of that stuff as possible.

Hard Surfaces

After you have cleaned away the mess, spray the area with Nok-Out, allow it to sit for a minute or two and then wipe away any excess fluid. All of that stuff should be gone now. Spray the area one more time with Nok-Out and then walk away and allow it to air dry naturally.
It’s easy to remove vomit odor from hard surfaces.

Removing Vomit Odor From Porous or Soft Surfaces

Remember that Nok-Out must come into direct contact with all of the odor source to successfully remove the odor. So wherever that smelly stuff got to, Nok-Out needs to go there also to be able to do its job.

Soft porous surfaces present a bit more of a challenge because the liquids from the vomit are likely to have been soaked up, absorbed, or in other ways to have penetrated to the depths of the material. The stuffing in a sofa or chair, or the various layers that comprise your carpet can absorb these liquids and this makes it difficult to achieve direct contact with all of the smelly stuff. And, that stinky stuff may be highly acidic which can leave a permanent discoloration.

One solution is to dilute Nok-Out by 4:1 (water to Nok-Out) and apply it liberally to these areas. The idea is that you will have a lot of cleaning fluid to help to ensure that you get direct contact with 100% of the smelly stuff. This is necessary because as an oxidizer, Nok-Out does it’s work when it comes into direct contact with that stuff. If you miss a spot, then you won’t be able to remove all of the odor. If gravity pulled that stinky stuff down into the cushions, then having lots of cleaning fluid to work with allows gravity to pull Nok-Out down to the same places. Nok-Out will remove the odor from vomit as long as it can have direct contact with all the stinky stuff.  It works!

Should I Mix Nok-Out with other Cleansers?

Never mix Nok-Out with acidic cleaners such as vinegar or citric cleaners because Nok-Out – like most cleansers – is alkaline.  If you have already used vinegar on the site, you can spray a baking soda/water solution (1 tsp to 1 pint) on the area and that will neutralize the acids.  If you have reason to believe that the vomit was highly acidic, it might be a good idea to pre-treat the area with the baking soda solution to give Nok-Out a better working environment as well.  Nokout removes odor from vomit easily.  Let it do the hard work for you!

Sniper Eliminated Our Mold Problems!

We’ve used SNiPER disinfectant for several years. It works great. It has eliminated our mold problems and, still, we use it to keep our wooden cutting boards safe.

Removed All The Feral Cat Urine

Sniper has been AMAZING. I was able to completely remove all the feral cat urine scent from the carpets, mattresses, clothing, and toys. It worked beautifully and left no smell, no fumes, and didn’t leave any discoloration. Sniper is now my cleaner of choice and I use it everywhere to clean and sanitize as well as freshen the air. “Nok-Out Saved My New Car!”

Thank you for creating such a great product. I would and will recommend this to everyone I know. My son left raw meat in my car for 4 days and I thought that my new car was ruined, but after talking with you and using the product, I can now get in my car and the only thing that I smell is a clean, disinfected smell! Thank you for saving my new car!

Sniper Removed Old Water Odors, Mold & Mildew

I have been using Sniper in the Offshore oil industry as both a disinfectant and a deodorizer for years. It has eliminated old water smells of toilets and bathrooms not used in a year where the water sat and molded mildewed and stank. As well as being injected into our old quarters ac vents to prevent mold buildup. Always worked better than anything comparable and well worth the price.

My Mildew Stain Disappeared!

I brought in the plants for winter and when it was time to move them back outside in the spring, I had a mildew stain on the carpet. I received my Nok-Out Carpet cleaner and sprayed the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes. When I returned to scrub the stain it was completely gone!! Woo hoo!! Thank you, Mary Hunt, for introducing me to this wonderful product!
