How to Get Rid of Laundry Odor
Nok-Out is a Simple Solution to Odor in Your Laundry
How is it that freshly laundered clothes can sometimes smell bad? There are many reasons why this might be so, but the solution to this problem is simple. Nokout Odor Eliminator can make it easy for you to get rid of laundry odor. Here’s how:
How Do I Use Nok-Out to Remove Laundry Odor?
The quick version: Nok-Out can be added to either the soak or wash cycle or both. Top loaders are easiest. Add cold water to the machine, stop the cycle temporarily, add 4 – 8 oz of Nok-Out to the water and swish it around. Add the clothing and allow it to sit for 10 – 20 minutes, then restart the cycle and proceed with normal washing. For front loaders use Nok-Out as part of a pre-wash cycle.
How Much Nok-Out Should I Use?
For laundry that is full of obnoxious odors such as pet urine or mold, first – wash as usual, spin dry, but do not remove from your washer. For top loaders, fill to the minimum water level that will cover the clothes, then add 6-8 ounces of Nok-Out to the cycle and allow the laundry to soak for 10-20 minutes. Use cold water. At the end of this soak, advance the cycle to the rinse/spin cycle and spin dry to flush away the soak water. It would not be a bad idea to give it an extra rinse. Then proceed with normal drying. This simple method will get rid of laundry odor from most issues.
What About the Dryer…Any Suggestions There?
Spray the interior of the dryer tub. Pay attention to the holes, seams, baffles, etc. Spray the door, the rubber seals, and into the filter, if possible. Allow to air dry.
Should I Take Any Other Precautions?
Nok-Out’s formula causes no staining or bleaching when diluted. Add Nok-Out to water and swish around several times before adding garments to the washer tub. Nok-Out is a hypoallergenic, non-toxic, biodegradable and a totally safe product to use in your home, your laundry, for pet bedding or any sports equipment odor removal.
Can I Spray my Clothing Directly?
Yes you can, but remember that Nok-Out does it’s work when it is in direct contact with the odor source. When you spray clothing, it may not cover adequately and it may just ‘float’ on the surface of the fabric, not really attaining direct contact with all the stinky stuff. It’s smarter to dilute some Nok-Out in water, then immerse the clothes in that water to ensure contact with all the stinky stuff.
If you do decide to spray the fabric directly, test for colorfastness! Some of the stretchy synthetic fabrics coming from China are not colorfast!
Can I Use Nok-Out in a Front Loader?
Yes. Wash the clothing first using your favorite detergent. Then, add Nok-Out to either the ‘pre-wash’ reservoir, or to the rinse cycle reservoir. Optionally run the washer until it gets to whichever stage contains the Nok-Out and then pause the cycle for 10 – 15 minutes to allow time for Nok-Out to do it’s work. Front loaders are very different and you may need to experiment a bit to find what works best in your machine.
Front Loaders can be pretty stinky themselves. Here is an article that can help keep your front loader from imparting a bad odor to your clothes.
Can I Add Nok-Out to my Normal Detergent and Clean and Deodorize at the Same Time?
It is unlikely that this may cause any harm to your clothes, but we recommend that you wash first, deodorize after, rinse well.
