How to Get Rid of Gasoline Odor With Nok-Out
Nok-Out and Petroleum Odors
Gasoline, kerosene and other petroleum distillates have been very useful to us for more than a hundred years. It seems inevitable that every now and then, some kind of spill occurs and then – oh boy! That stuff really stinks! There is no masking agent in the world that can hide gasoline odor. Did you get some on your gloves? Your jacket? In the carpet in your car? It’s hard to get rid of. With Nok-Out, and persistence, you can get rid of gasoline odor.
Nok-Out is a great deodorizer that does its work when it comes into direct contact with something smelly. When that happens, the powerful formula for Nok-Out oxidizes the smelly stuff, changing into something that just doesn’t have an odor. The key here is direct contact. That, however, can be difficult to achieve because Nok-Out is mostly water and oil and water don’t mix. But Nok-Out has been successful for many people at removing this powerful odor. Here’s how they did it:
Be Aware of How Nok-Out Works
There is a “surfactant” in Nokout (think soapiness) that allows oils and water to actually come in contact with each other. This allows Nok-Out to be able to get rid of gasoline odor.
The first thing to do is to try really hard to remove as much of the wet gasoline as possible. Grab a roll of paper towels and blot up as much as you can. The more you can remove this way, the easier your task will be later.
Next, make a mild soapy water solution (I like blue dawn detergent) and massage some of that into the area. Allow it to sit a few moments (because no cleaner works instantly), massage it all the way down if it is carpet or fabric, gently agitate it a bit, and then get those paper towel again and again, blot up as much of that as you can. Put fans on it and let it dry thoroughly.
Your goal in this step is to get as much of the gasoline out as possible and to try and dry the affected area.
Next Steps
After you have completed the previous steps, you are ready to begin.
Spray Nok-Out directly on the surface of the contamination. Spray heavily enough to wet but not drench the entire area.
For fabrics or carpet, massage or agitate it in deeply
Allow to sit for 1-2 minutes.
Blot any moisture remaining with a clean cloth.
Spray heavily again outwards of the original site, moving back & forth to the center of the contamination.
Using a sponge or other semi-abrasive cloth, rub Nok-Out into the area. This encourages deeper penetration.
Allow to stay wet for up to 6 minutes. Air dry, or place a fan to dry quickly.
These procedures (except for the first four steps) may be repeated as often as necessary to completely destroy odors in the affected area. We talked to many people who used this method and reported success at getting rid of gasoline odor using Nok-Out. They told us that they had to repeat this process more than once to get it all, but that with persistence, Nok-Out worked to remove gasoline odor permanently.
You too can get rid of gasoline odor or other petroleum odor with Nok-Out!
